Welcome to the BC BPSD Algorithm Website!
This is a practical, electronic, interactive tool intended to support interdisciplinary, evidence-based, person-centred care for persons with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). The algorithm is intended to be combined with the BPSD Best Practice Guideline.

The BPSD Best Practice Consensus Algorithm was created through the collaborative efforts of a working group of expert geriatric psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and those involved in the care of persons with dementia. Elisabeth Antifeau and Dr. Carol Ward of Interior Health Authority are acknowledged for their work developing the original algorithm and for their continued dedication to the project. Their colleagues across the province have provided invaluable expertise, time and energy to develop a consistent, updated algorithm to support person-centred, evidence informed care of persons with BPSD in residential care in BC.
